WINE EXHIBITION
Now in its 55th edition, the Refrontolo Wine Exhibition is not only a showcase for oenological excellence but a true celebration of the local identity and community.
Organized by the Pro Loco, the event comes to life thanks to the dedication of volunteers who passionately oversee every detail.
Within the evocative setting of the Barchessa di Villa Spada, the spotlight will be on the prestigious Refrontolo Passito D.O.C.G. and Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G., accompanied by a selection of the finest local wines.
Refrontolo
Refrontolo, a small jewel nestled in the hills of the Quartier del Piave, represents a perfect combination of nature, culture and history.
Do not miss the suggestive Molinetto della Croda, a still functioning water mill resting on the bare “croda”. Now it is a destination for tourists, who can visit it through guided tours or events organized here, and a place of inspiration for poets and artists.
The seventeenth-century Villa Battaglia-Spada with the annexed Barchessa, seat of the Austrian command during the First World War, is also worth visiting. The place is also famous as a setting of the book “Not all bastards are from Vienna” by Andrea Molesini that won the Campiello Prize in 2011. It is possible to visit the romantic Tempietto Spada, located not far away in an extraordinary panoramic position, the 11th century Parish Church of Santa Margherita and the bronze work by Carlo Balljana dedicated to Marzemino and Art, located in front of the Town Hall. There is an interesting reference in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in which the librettist da Ponte mentions the “excellent Marzemino”. In fact, Refrontolo is the production area of Refrontolo Passito, today’s name of the old wine produced from the Marzemino grapes.
Moreover, there are numerous paths and hiking trails that you can follow in Refrontolo. They pass through some of the most fascinating points of the town, such as the natural canyon of the Grota de la Sgnapa, the Conti Agosti partisan houses and the “bores“, natural karst sinkholes.
Tipical Dish
Artisanal spit-roasted meats and traditional stewed young chicken (local “pit”).
