From 2 to 18 October, the picturesque village of Colmaggiore and the hills of Tarzo are decked out in festive finery to celebrate one of the treasures of their region with the traditional Chestnut Festival.
A historic and unmissable event for anyone wishing to immerse themselves in the authentic scents, colours and vibrant traditions of autumn in the Treviso area.
This historic event, now in its 54th year, is also part of the ‘Delizie d’Autunno’ programme. This is the renowned series of events that invites residents and tourists alike to discover the typical local produce and seasonal culinary delights that make these hills so unique.
During the festival, visitors can savour the renowned roasted chestnuts cooked in the characteristic and spectacular ‘giant iron’, as well as a rich menu of local culinary specialities and traditional dishes, all accompanied by an extensive selection of local wines in the dedicated wine bar.
The Chestnut Festival offers a packed programme: visitors can take part in guided walks through the woods, stroll along the charming Via dei Murales in Tarzo and Fratta, or enjoy family-friendly activities such as creative workshops for children, historical exhibitions and scenic train rides amongst the lakes of the valley.
